What is Upa Yoga?
A simple, but powerful set of ten exercises that activate the joints, muscles and energy system. Upa Yoga is a good starting point for all those who are new to yoga and can be used as preparation for other yoga practices. It is based on a sophisticated understanding of body mechanics.
Within the human system, energy flows through 72,000 (seventy-two thousand) pathways called nadis. The nadis meet at the joints and create knots, thus making them stores of energy. Upa yoga activates this energy and lubricates the joints, creating an instant feeling of wakefulness and liveliness. Upa yoga essentially means "sub-yoga" or "pre-yoga". Because of its many immediate and obvious benefits, the word Upa yoga is commonly used in Indian languages to mean "usefulness."
