What is Yogasanas?
The word asana means the body posture. Of the many asanas that the body can take, 84 are recognized as Yoga Asanas, through which the body and mind are prepared for the possibility of ultimate well-being. Yogasanas are not exercises, but very subtle processes for directing energies. Hatha Yoga is a set of 36 strong positions, or yoga asanas, which help the body to reach and maintain a high level of energy, thinking, and experiencing life.
The Isha Yogasans program does not require special physical agility, nor previous experience of practicing yoga. Yogasanas are not just physical exercises, but are a way to reach full personal potential and naturally achieve and maintain health, joy and bliss.
In the untrained state, the human body constantly functions at a higher or lesser level of compulsiveness. Consciously taking certain body positions supports optimal flow of energies and raises levels of consciousness. Yogasanas are a way to harmonize the internal system of the body with the system of the Universe, which achieves synchronization with nature, the chemistry of health, joy, happiness, and above all, balance.
